Road Trip Down PCH for 2nd Anniversary

For our 2nd wedding anniversary (Summer of 2008), Joe and I decided to do a road trip down PCH..staying in little beach towns along the way.

We got the idea because 1)we love southern California and
2) we had a wedding to go to out there for our friends, Sam and Monica....why not combine the two?! Here is a brief rundown of our trip. We had a blast!

We flew into Orange County and our first stop was In-n-Out....It's a MUST!! We also did some shopping at South Coast Plaza.
The next morning we stopped and had breakfast at the cutest cafe.
That afternoon was Sam and Monica's wedding so we went over to help set up. The wedding/reception was in Sam's parents backyard in Newport Beach....so pretty!

You may recognize some of these people from previous trip posts. We travel with them a lot!
Me, Joe, Val, Josh, and Little Joe
Me and Joe playing in a phone booth....Sam's parents have this in their yard...so fun!
The table set ups....Joe and I did this to help with the wedding.
The next morning Joe and I drove down to Laguna and stayed 2 nights. We spent the day on the beach....it was beautiful!!
That night we went to dinner at Canyon Lodge Grill. It was very yummy!
Neat car in the parking lot that I had to pose with!
Me on the beach :)

The next morning we ate breakfast on a rooftop restaurant and shopped in the town before hitting the beach again.
We ate dinner at Avlia's El Ranchito...very yummy! We also saw LC's house up on the hill!
The next morning we drove down the coast a little bit and stopped in San Clemente for the day. We stayed on the beach all day....Joe played in the surf and I tanned myself.

We ate lunch at one of my favorite places ever...Fisherman's. You can eat on the pier overlooking the water....I love it!

That night we drove to San Diego and stayed 2 nights with our friends, Jackie and Louie. We ate some yummy pizza the first night.

The next morning, Joe and I set off to explore the town of San Diego. I love this statue....see me and Joe re-creating it underneath?

We also hit up the beach and rode one of the oldest roller coasters on the West Coast. The Giant Dipper at Belmont Park.

For dinner we went to the Gaslamp district and ate at The Strip Club....it's a restaurant silly....you get to add your own spices and grill your own meat. It was really neat!

The next morning, one of Joe's other friends gave me my first surf lesson in La Jolla. Joe went our first. The water was FREEZING!! Good thing we had wet suits on!

Here I am taking the board out....
and I'm up!! So what if I'm riding it funny....I stood up and didn't fall down and rode it all the way in!! Yay!
I like surfing!!
Here I am posing with the surfboard and my awesome instructor.

Luckily the weather cleared up before we checked into our final hotel, The Hotel del Coronado. It was such a nice hotel but pretty expensive. I highly recommend it if you are staying in the San Diego area. We ate a huge ice cream sundae on the beach...yum!
We had a blast on the beach!
We rented bicycles and rode up and down the boardwalk.
That night we got ready and went to eat dinner in the cute town of Coronado....it's an island off the coast of San Diego.
My handsome hubby!!
Our ride for the week....a silver PT Cruiser....yeah..not the coolest thing. We were supposed to have a convertible but they were all out...boo!
We had such a wonderful trip. I love all the Southern California beach towns. Doing a road trip down PCH was a great way to see them all.

Eating at In and Out Burger was on my list of must-dos during our Cali vaca this past summer. Somehow, we never did it! I can't wait to go back to eat there, haha.

Cute pics as always!
