Happy Halloween & Monster Munch

Happy Halloween Everyone!!

We woke up bright and early and I made Sally a special Halloween lunch...let's hope she eats it :)

I dropped her off at school today and loved seeing all the littles in their costumes and Halloween shirts. I was looking past at Halloween last year...how has she grown so much in just one year?!

The weather here in Memphis is yucky...I'm hoping the rain stops before tonight so we can trick-or-treat. 

Today I want to share with you a super easy recipe for "Monster Munch". Joe doesn't even like popcorn and he can't stop eating this stuff. It's that good!

Here is what you need:

1 cup of dry roasted peanuts

1 cup of Reese's Pieces

1 cup candy corn

2 things of unsalted unbuttered (Natural) popcorn...popped

1 lb. vanilla almond bark

Here's how to make it:

Pop the popcorn and put it in a huge bowl.

Add the candy corn, peanuts and Reese's Pieces. 

Melt the almond bark in the microwave and pour all over the popcorn mix. Stir well and make sure everything is coated with the almond bark. 

Lay on wax paper or parchment paper in a single layer and let dry. Break up into pieces and store in an airtight container.

I packed some up for Sally's teachers and added these free printable tags. 

A Trip to Nashville

This past weekend we made a trip up to Nashville to visit my best friend, Kristy, and also to go to the big Nashville Flea Market.

We had a great time and I was good and only made a few small purchases. 

When Sally was ready for her nap, Kristy and I sent the boys home and continued to shop. We even stopped at Trader Joes!

On Sunday morning, Sally enjoyed eating breakfast in Kristy's guest room bed :)

We headed for home but decided to stop for lunch at the Loveless Cafe. It had been a few years since I had been here and it was great! The wait was 1.5 hours but they had all kinds of activities for the kids. 

There was coloring,

sidewalk chalk, 

bubbles, 

free kids crafts, 

and I managed to collect a bunch of really big acorns.

When we finally got seated, the food did not disappoint. First they bring you out the most delicious biscuits. 

Joe got meatloaf, mac & cheese and mashed potatoes. 

I got a fried chicken salad...so yummy!!

Sally got a little of everything ;)

Here is one of my purchases put to use...an old soda crate turned paint holder.

We also swung by World Market and I picked up some ornaments for Sally's little Christmas tree.

Chocolate Covered Halloween Pretzels

I just got done making some chocolate covered Halloween pretzels for Sally's class tomorrow and it was so easy and cute that I wanted to go ahead and share.

I picked up a bag of pretzel rods (just the Kroger brand). I melted some vanilla flavored almond bark and dipped the pretzels and laid them on parchment paper to dry. 

Once they were dry, I melted some orange candy melts and dipped them again. I sprinkled on some Halloween sprinkles and then let them dry again.

To package them, I bought some plastic treat bags made for pretzels. These are from Hobby Lobby. I added a spider ring and tied a bow with a bunch of different leftover orange ribbon scraps. I think they turned out really cute!!

Here is what I got and what I thought :)

The diapers...I really wanted to like these. The price is great. They leaked though...every single time I used them. I have a feeling if I had gone up a size this would not have been a problem. 

I loved the baby wash. It was about 20 cents cheaper than the competing brand. The smell was almost exactly the same. I found that it worked really well and washed Sally up :)

The lotion was really nice...a very calming scent and it obviously smelled good to Sally...she kept trying to eat it!

My favorite product?? The WIPES!! They were so thick and worked so well. I LOVED them and will be switching from my usual brand.

I really wanted to try the bib since I had a coupon, but every Kroger didnt have them. Boo!

5 On Friday

It finally feels like fall and we have turned on the heater. The air is crisp, the leaves are changing and my "leaves" candle from BBW is lit non-stop...love it all! I guess its time to get up to the attic and switch my closet from summer to fall. I always forget that I had things and its like having a whole new wardrobe.

Things are getting spooky in these parts :) Here are two of my projects this week. The wreath was inspired by a few different ones I saw on Pinterest. How I did it: I covered a foam wreath with strips of burlap and secured with both hot glue and pins. I got the black crow at the $1 Tree and stuck him right into the foam wreath. I made three black/white fabric flowers using fabric from Hobby Lobby and hot glued them on. I used some silver glittered scrapbook letters (chipboard) that I've had for a million years and glued them onto scalloped circles that I had cut out. I made it into a banner using hot glue and black/white bakers twine from Hobby Lobby. I tied a black tulle bow and secured it all onto an old black frame. Easy Peasy!

I have also been collected pumpkins and mums and made a cute little display by our side door. The wooden crates were literally found on the side of the road years ago. Sally loves to play here and rearrange the pumpkins. Problem? She thinks the little ones are balls and tries to throw them. I have to tell her, "gentle, gentle..."

We are headed to Nashville this weekend and I cannot wait to come back with a carload of groceries from Trader Joes!!

Halloween is less than a week away! I have been dressing Sally up in all her halloween outfits while I can. Here is a sampling.

I have been on the mission to find new riding boots. Joe told me to just get the Tory Burch ones but that doesnt seem very responsible, so I have been trying to find some cheaper ones. I ordered these from DSW so we will see. I am just so picky!

Someone posted on Facebook that Christmas is only 9 Saturdays away....yikes!! I have officially started my shopping as of last night. We randomly went into Pottery Barn Outlet and I picked up this little shopping cart for Miss Sally. I cant wait to fill it with play food for her. Joe is building her a little kitchen, so this will be perfect!
