Out of Treats Sign Tutorial

I was inspired to make this after seeing something on Pinterest. Here is how I did it :)

I bought the wooden thing from Hobby Lobby using a 40% off coupon.

I painted it all black and let it dry.

After it dried, I hot glued a loop of ribbon onto the back.

Here is what it looks like from the front. I also tied a bow and hot glued it on.

I knew I couldn't write very neatly and I have yet to invest in a vinyl cutter so I bought a sheet of stickers at Hobby Lobby.

I put them on the front...

For good measure I hot glued a plastic spider on the front. I LOVE how it turned out!

:)

Now I am ready for trick-or-treaters!!

A Colorful Pincushion Tutorial

Hey everyone! I wanted to share a quick little craft I did yesterday. I found this frame in the $1 section at Michael's yesterday. All of the stuff was marked down to 75 cents....score! It was red but I knew that wouldn't be a problem.

I took it home and opened it up. There was no glass...just a flimsy piece of plastic. I took it out.

Then I took it outside and spray painted it with my signature color....hot pink.

Spring DIY

I have to brag on my hubby a little bit. I saw a picture on Pinterest of a really rustic box made from an old wooden pallet. I put a post on Facebook asking for a wooden pallet and a friend had one so Joe went to get it...about an hour later, I had a box. Woo-hoo! I LOVE it. I put some juice glasses inside and filled them with flowers. Then I balled up newspaper and filled in the gaps between the glasses. I covered the paper with moss from Hobby Lobby and also added a few nests/candy eggs for show. This box can be changed out for different seasons and my hubby did a fantastic job. He is going to start selling these too, so if you are a local girl and want one, shoot me a message.

A Butterfly Wall Tutorial

I saw this post on Holly Mathis Interiors and was instantly jealous. Joe and I love vintage bug prints so I knew this would be perfect for the dining room. The one problem? Cavallini did not make a butterfly calendar this year and it seemed that finding one from previous years was going to be impossible. I looked on ebay, craigslist, amazon....everywhere. Finally I emailed the company directly and they led me to a store in Seattle that sometimes had calendars from years past. Guess what?? They had one left!! I bought it over the phone and waited impatiently as it made its way to my mailbox.

I got the 2011 version. Woo-hoo...let the craftiness begin!
First I went through and VERY carefully cut the pictures out from each month. Then, I took them to Hobby Lobby and had mats cut for them. They were all different sizes so custom mats were a must. They turned out to be about $6 per mat.

I also bought 9 frames from Hobby Lobby. They were 50% off. Score!

After getting all of them in frames, they were ready to be hung.

Joe got out all of the necessary tools and got to work. Im not exactly sure how he did it but there was a lot of measuring in involved. This is where it helps to have a handy guy around.

I told him that I wanted three rows of three and he delivered. Good job Joe!

And....all done!!

I LOVE the way it turned out!! I feel like it really pulls the room together.

The dining room is almost finished...yay!!

Teacher Toolbox: My Version

While wasting time on Pinterest the other day, I saw a little project that I simply had to make for my classroom. Enter the "Teacher Toolbox".  Here is a link to the original post. I love that she gives you the printables to make this. I printed them off, cut them out and glued onto cute scrapbook paper. I got the toolbox at Lowe's for around $17 and spray painted it lime green. I love the way it turned out!!
