Five On Friday

{one}

There is just something about Fall that makes my heart happy. The crisp air, sound of football on the tv and chili cooking on the stove means that the holidays are just around the corner. It all puts me in the best mood.

It has been cooler here in Memphis and our trip last week to Minnesota made me yearn for weather when I can wear my scarves and boots.

I want to take walks while the leaves crunch under my feet and the trees are a blaze in color.

I want to get a caramel apple spice from Starbucks.

I want to decorate my front porch with pumpkins.

I want to make pumpkin and apple treats.

{two}
We are heading to Nashville today. Girls weekend to see Frozen on ice :)

{three}
Next weekend we head to the beach! The though of having a week of sand between my toes is making me a very happy girl!

{four}
I am slowly getting my Disney trip report done. We had the best time and already booked a trip for next year...with FREE DINING! Time to start planning the next trip ;)

I have had a lot of fun making Sally's lunches lately :)

She loves them!

Thoughts on a Thursday

{one}
Did anyone catch the made for TV movie about "Saved By The Bell"? Joe and I watched it and although the actors got on my nerves, I was sucked in.

{two}
Have you been to the Target $1 spot lately. We went this week and I was a tad excited...so much cuteness...and I'm going back tomorrow!

{three}
Seriously....only 18 more Fridays...I have already started my shopping and found an amazing deal on a Pottery Barn dollhouse for Sally. :)

{four}
The weather has been really nice here in Memphis. We went for a long walk along the Wolf River on Saturday and had the best time.

{five}
My local Kroger had pumpkins on sale for $3.99....HUGE white ones. I had to buy one. Hopefully it will not rot before Halloween.

{six}
I have been asking Sally what she wants to be for Halloween. She kept saying "Alice"....so Alice it is....Alice in Wonderland :) I ordered this adorable dress off Etsy and she is going to look just precious in it. Now I need to find some black shoes and a black headband. the plan is for me to be the Queen of Hearts and Joe is going to be the White Rabbit. I am so excited!!

"Be Grateful" Wooden Sign Tutorial

I really wanted something on the mantel, so I had Joe make me a wooden square made of old pallets. It looked plain so I decided that I wanted to have something written on it. The problem? I have terrible writing and knew it wouldn't look good. So here is what I did.

I printed off "Be Grateful" in big letters. I used a font called "Great Vibes".  It took three sheets of card stock. Once I printed them off I needed to figure out a way to get it onto the wooden sign. I put chalk all over each sheet and then put the sheets chalk side down on the spot where I wanted the letters.

After you put the card stock, chalk side down you take a ballpoint pen and trace over all the words...like every single part of each letter. Just go over and over with the ballpoint pen. The pressure from the pen will make the chalk go into the wood. Lift the paper off carefully and after you have done all the words, use a sharpie to trace the outline.

After you have traced the letters, you can fill it in using paint and a paint brush. Don't worry if it doesn't look perfect! It will look good once it is hanging somewhere :)

Let me know if you have any questions!

A Trip to Nashville

This past weekend we made a trip up to Nashville to visit my best friend, Kristy, and also to go to the big Nashville Flea Market.

Here are some of my favorite things from the day.

I loved these old street signs.

Stained Glass Windows

Old Industrial Stools

Galvanized Tubs

I was really loving these old drawers. I thought they would look really neat stacked with a piece of wood on top for end tables.

Lots of old doors

Vintage Christmas Ornaments

We had a great time and I was good and only made a few small purchases.

When Sally was ready for her nap, Kristy and I sent the boys home and continued to shop. We even stopped at Trader Joes!

On Sunday morning, Sally enjoyed eating breakfast in Kristy's guest room bed :)

We headed for home but decided to stop for lunch at the Loveless Cafe. It had been a few years since I had been here and it was great! The wait was 1.5 hours but they had all kinds of activities for the kids.

There was coloring,

sidewalk chalk,

bubbles,

free kids crafts,

and I managed to collect a bunch of really big acorns.

When we finally got seated, the food did not disappoint. First they bring you out the most delicious biscuits.

Joe got meatloaf, mac & cheese and mashed potatoes.

I got a fried chicken salad...so yummy!!

Sally got a little of everything ;)

Here is one of my purchases put to use...an old soda crate turned paint holder.

We also swung by World Market and I picked up some ornaments for Sally's little Christmas tree.

A Trip To Cedar Hill Farms

This morning we went to Cedar Hill Farms in Hernando, MS. I was sad that Joe couldn't join us but he is working on our master bathroom. It was freezing out, but we had a great time!

I hadn't been down here in years, but there were so many activities to keep the kids busy. The first place we hit up was the area with the pumpkins. It seemed like a great place to take some pictures. As soon as Sally saw them she started saying, "pumpkins! pumpkins!". It was so cute....girl LOVES pumpkins.

Sally and Emma Claire :)

Next we hit up a puppet show, watched a pig race and let the girls ride ponies.

Sally on her pony...she wasn't sure what to think.

Next we took the hay ride out to the pumpkin patch. Sally LOVED it and went from pumpkin to pumpkin.

We picked out a little one to bring home with us :) It was a great day and she passed out on the way home. Mission Accomplished!!
