Baby Henry's Nursery

I'm so excited to share Baby Henry's nursery with y'all today. Its always so rewarding to have a "vision" and see it come alive.

Here is the board I originally made of how I wanted the room to look.

Here is the view when you walk in the door. I knew I wanted a white changing table with some drawers so this sideboard from Ikea was perfect. We had Joe's parents get it from Ikea and bring it down for us. I added a vintage globe a little glass container to hold pact's, the changing pad, wipes, and a vintage locker basket to hold the diapers. Inside the doors, there are two shelves and I ordered some cute chrome baskets to hold bibs, burp cloths, blankets, etc.

Here is a close up picture. I covered the wipes container using fabric from Hobby Lobby and some Modge Podge.

Joe totally redid the closets and I love the way they turned out. The white moose head is from Hobby Lobby.

Here is an interior closet shot. The gray baskets all came from Target.

We have a little nook and Joe did a built in toy box. The fox pillow on top is from Target and there is a vintage star chart on the wall that Joe built a frame for using reclaimed wood.

The chair is a rocking chair that I got from a local shop when I was pregnant with Sally. I ordered the pillow case from Etsy and the fox bin came from Target. The side table used to be in Sally's room and I ordered the lamp from Decor Steals one day. The vintage map came from an estate sale years ago. Joe used some reclaimed wood to build a frame. I LOVE the way it turned out.

Joe built the shelves out of pipe and reclaimed wood. The did have to mount the shelves into the floor to make sure they were steady. Some of the items on the shelves were collected from our house and others were special for his room. The globe on the top shelf came from Hobby Lobby and the bug box came from Etsy. Joe mounted some vintage fly fishing lures into a box that he made. I bought the train lantern from a local resale site and spray painted it yellow. I have a vintage wire basket at the bottom holding books.

Here is a shot of the other side of the room. The rug came from Ikea.

Friday Favorites!!

{nursery progress}
We now have a rug!! I ordered it from Ikea and I love the way it looks. I'm still waiting for the bedding to come in.

Joe made these shelves and they turned out so well. We are still styling them up, but you get the idea.

I ordered some beetles from Thailand and those came in the mail this week. Don't worry, they are dead :)

I've also been shopping and buying some cute outfits. These all came from Aliexpress and were under $8 each! They do run really big though!

{Easter Happenings}

We pulled out our Easter decorations and have been adding bunnies everywhere :)

I made Sally a cute lunch this week. She was so excited!!

We made recycled crayon bunnies for Sally to give to her friends at school.

{Big Sister Class}

Last weekend Sally and I attended the Celebrate Siblings class at the hospital where I will deliver. She was so very excited and was the perfect student. She made a birthday card for Henry, watched a video about being a big sister, learned how to diaper, swaddle and hold the baby, and got a tour of the nursery and recovery room. It was such  fun time and I am so glad we did it.

{Big Girl}
I cannot deny that my sweet baby girl is turning into a little girl. Its like she grew up overnight. Its very bittersweet. I want her to stay little but see the wonderful girl that she is becoming.

{Central Church MOPS/Mom2Mom Group}
This sweet group of girls means so much to me and I love our Wednesday morning time together!!

The Nursery...all the details

***I am so grateful and touched by all of the nice messages and comments you have sent about the nursery. Sally is now 2 years old and I am sadly selling her nursery bedding if anyone is interested. It is in excellent condition and includes the bumper, crib skirt and 2 changing pad covers. I am asking $300. Please comment on here if you are interested and we can work out the details.

I am so excited to share Sally's nursery with you. This project has been so fun to work on and something that I was looking forward to doing ever since I found out that I was pregnant! This was the inspiration board that I put together when I started thinking about what kind of room I wanted to make.
I think this was a pretty good indication of things to come. I am a girl who has a "vision" and knows what she wants.

Just to jog your memory...here is what our guest room looked like before we started. This was after I started packing it up. Obviously this was when it was super messy, bedding packed away, etc.
The first thing we did was clear out the room. Somehow we (and I do mean Joe and our friend, Tyler) got everything up into the attic. Hopefully we can use this furniture in the guest room at our next house. Then Joe got to work on the walls. He installed library paneling, painted it white and we painted the walls with bright blue color. I thought the color might be a little too bright, but it looks perfect now. We also painted all of the baseboards and crown molding a fresh coat of glossy white.

The finished product:
Next we took down the ceiling fan and installed a beautiful white chandelier

and new floor vent covers.
I went ahead and ordered the bedding since it had a 14 week turnaround time. When I first saw this on Etsy, I knew I had to have it. The price was more than I had wanted to spend, but it looks so freakin' cute!

I also ordered the chair. I knew that I wanted a glider/rocker that looked more like a chair. I also wanted one with a print that was safe. Hopefully We can use this chair with all of our children and just change out the throw pillow....then it can move into another room. We ordered the chair from a shop here in Memphis. It took about 6 weeks to get....not bad at all!
I started my search for an armoire early on. We found this one at a local store here in Memphis for about $200. Joe sanded it, painted it white, and added new hardware. Love it!

I made the inside of the drawers fun my using scrapbook paper and modge podge.
We used the curtains that were already in the room and I went to Hancocks and got some hot pink pom-pom fringe and hot glued it on.

I also ordered the rug from Urban Outfitters. It was backordered but I got it before Christmas.
We did some DIY art for over the crib.
I got this amazing lamp as a baby shower gift from one of my moms best friends, Susan. She found it at an antique store and painted it to match the room. She also made the monogrammed lampshade. It looks perfect in the nursery!
The side table came from my Great Uncle's house. Joe painted it white. I got the picture frame from Hobby Lobby and put a black and white picture of my mama pregnant with me in it.

The changing table was a hand me down item. It is an old Jenny Lind style. Joe's mom ordered fabric that matched the crib bedding and made a cover for the changing table pad. She actually made two different covers, but this one is my favorite.
I already had the hot pink wire baskets (bought from Hobby Lobby a few years ago on clearance}. I put lotions, creams, etc. in one basket and in the other basket I put 2 glass containers (old BBW candle holders that I cleaned out) and filled them with baby q-tips and other items. I got the glass holder from Michael's and I'm using it to store the pacifiers. On the bottom shelf I have 2 galvanized bins. I knew that I did not want baskets, so these seemed like a good option. I found these at the local Pottery Barn outlet, but the pink was wrong. No problem...I just covered them with some scrapbook paper and modge podge. I am using them to store diapers and either blankets or bibs/burp cloths.

Here is a picture of Sally's closet....little girl has a lot of clothes!! Joe installed the closet organizer from IKEA and then built the rods and shelves. I added some colorful bins and started filling it them up with all kinds of baby goodies.
Here are some more pictures:
