Crazy...but TRUE!!

Early this week, I received a call from someone at Food Network. They have a new show called "Cupcake Wars" and they were interested in having me on it. The "catch": I have to make an audition tape. I was so excited and flattered that THEY CALLED ME :) After a few days of praying and thinking about it, I have decided that right now is not the time for me to do this. I just am not excited about making the tape and feel like I would be "pimping" myself out and I honestly am too busy too make it this weekend. Maybe this week I will get the inspiration, but as of now, I am just not feeling it. Call me crazy...

Thursday Thoughts...

*I wish I could take a nap like my Kindergarten class.....today after snack i wanted to curl up on one of the extra mats and doze off....zzzzzzz

*I KNOW Jake picks Vienna, but I just have to keep watching. It's like a car wreck...I know I should turn away, but I CAN'T!

*I am excited for kickboxing tonight. I finally know all the routines. My friend, Allison, is coming with me to try it out.

*I miss sweets.....

*I have A TON of cupcakes to make this weekend....well starting tonight and I am really tired and do not feel like it :)

*I wish Joe would hear something about one of the jobs. He sent his resume to two companies and is trying to be patient, but hates his current company more everyday. His stress is becoming my stress and until he switches jobs, our life is on hold....jobs, houses, babies.

Laptop Lunch Time!

I am loving these lunchboxes! How cute are they? I really like the little compartments and how everything just fits together. I can totally imagine my lunch in one of these...salad w/dressing, veggies with hummus, mixed berries, and trail mix :)

Happy Day of LOVE!

Joe and I had a very special Valentine's weekend. It was nice to relax and just be together. We went to dinner at Firebird's and then took in a late night showing of "Valentine's Day". It was cute, but it was no "Love Actually".

After dinner we exchanged cards. It's a tradition for us to exchange cards instead of giving gifts. There is only one rule...you have to make the card yourself. Joe's card came in an envelope and it was in several pieces. When I put the pieces together, this is what I got:

So cute!! He drew and painted it himself..he is the BEST cardmaker. He always draws us skinny and me with big boobs :) In the card we are standing in the front yard with Hank. I LOVE it!

I made him this ocean inspired card. It says "Inking of You"...haha...get it? It's a little octopus holding a heart :)

I also made him a mini scrapbook of some pictures of our adventures from the last year.

Laissez les bons temps rouler

This is what I am eating tonight after kickboxing....Laissez les bons temps rouler.....let the good times roll! Today is Fat Tuesday and tomorrow I will be attending Ash Wednesday services at church to signal the beginning of Lent in the Episcopal church. I will be giving up sweets (I know, right?!) until Easter. This means no candy, ice cream, sweet granola bars, icing, cupcakes, etc. I did it last year and it was HARD!!
That's what Lent is all about...making sacrifices :)

Scheduling Sunday/Menu Monday

Monday: NO SCHOOL!!! Hanging with Joe during the day...maybe a lunch date, cupcake making, hitting the gym for some cardio, Bachelor with Lindsey-hummus and cucumbers and a leftover brownie....so healthy, right?
Tuesday: Happy Fat Tuesday!! I am planning on giving up sweets for Lent, so I will be eating some ice cream!! Kickboxing at 5:45 and then home to watch Lost-Chicken Fried Rice that I am making myself :)
Wednesday: Attending Ash Wednesday at 5:30 and then going to the gym for cardio.-Leftovers
Thursday: Environmental club after school, kickboxing at 5:45 and then home to make cupcakes-Baby Spinach Salad with Warm Citrus-Bacon Vinaigrette
Friday: Joe is working...plan on relaxing...yeah right....just remembered I had to make cupcakes after school for a 7 pm pick up, I can relax after that-leftovers
Saturday: Heading to Archivers for a free make and take weekend. It's also free pretzel day at Auntie Ann's!! I have several cupcake pick ups to make too. Busy day!

Date Night...

We had a date night last night with our good friends, Shem and Meredith. For dinner we went to The Beauty Shop in Cooper-Young. I love this spot and it was Joe's first time. I forgot that a lot of people would be celebrating Valentine's Day last night and did not make reservations. Oh, well we found a cozy spot at the bar.

If you get the chance to sit in one of these old beauty shop chairs, consider it your lucky day :) There was a group of 20 somethings that were having an 80's prom party. It looked like so much fun! We will have to do that sometime. The girls had crimped hair and horrible dresses and the guys have funny tuxes on.

After dinner we headed over to Molly Fontaine's in Victorian Village. What a neat old house that was made into a hip tapas bar. We sat at the bar and listened to the band while drinking yummy drinks...key lime martini anyone?

The Big House That Wasn't

Well you probably remember the house I told you about earlier this week. Joe and I were so excited to see it....in fact, Joe rushed home and hadn't slept for 35 hours so that he could see it with me and dad. While it looks amazing from the outside the inside was not so amazing. The house definitely has potential but needs A LOT of work. At some point, someone made the house into apartments, so there was a kitchen upstairs. The wall paper was CRAZY!!

Here is the front porch. I loved the windows around the door.

I saw great potential in the entryway and stairs. I loved the window and there was great hardwood floors underneath the horrible carpet.

A neat claw foot tub in one of the bathrooms. As you can see from the crack in the tile floor, there was some structural damage.

There were 4 beautiful fireplaces and some neat curved windows.

I realized that although this house had tons of charm, it was not the house for us. We will continue to keep our eyes open for the perfect Moske castle :)

Flashback Friday

This picture is from October of 2006. We had gotten married that summer and came up to Minnesota for a wedding party. We had a blast at the airplane hanger (Joe's parents business).

Always Looking...

This is the current house that Joe and I are lusting over and at $95,000 it's a steal! We are going to look at it over the weekend and are trying not to get our hopes up. It's in Central Gardens and needs A LOT of work, but I still think it has excellent potential. Even if we had to put in $200,000 to renovate, it would be exactly what we want. It has 6 bedrooms, three bathrooms, an attic, basement, 4 fireplaces, etc. I will be bringing my camera and will post pics after we go an look at it.

Love It!!

I love the store, Z Gallerie and wish we had one in Memphis....but we don't!! Here are two things I want from there....Joe does too :) We will have to save up for the table....it's $600!!

Away We Go!

This weekend, Joe and I are headed to Denver to watch two of our good friends get married. Joe flies with Nate and I just think Ashley is the greatest. We are so excited for them and are thrilled to just get away for the weekend.

So Fresh and So Clean, Clean

Joe and I spent a few days this past weekend updating the kitchen. Joe put new grout on our white tile counter tops, we repainted the kitchen cabinets (white of course), replaced the hardware on the kitchen. Joe also installed recessed lighting and redid the ceiling. We also painted the walls a darker gray. I added a new rug and took out some of the clutter and voila!...a new kitchen for way less money :)

Up To NO GOOD!!

When these two guys get together, trouble is bound to follow! These two boys made me VERY ANGRY on Monday night/Tuesday morning. Why, you ask? The played Wii/XBOX from about 9 pm on Monday night until at least 7 am on Tuesday morning. They played ALL NIGHT!! The drums of Rockband kept me awake, the football screams of Madden kept me up....get the picture?! I was so mad when I woke up and TIRED!! Then I go to the kitchen and see at least 24 beer bottles on the counter, they drank all my juice, and ate all the ice cream (my special treat). Well...that just made me furious! I made sure they knew I was mad as I left for work that morning and they were STILL playing video games!!

Luckily, Joe has learned the way to win back my heart....ice cream and flowers. They realized that they should not have stayed up so late. We are friends again:)
