30a Beach Trip

Joe had five days where he was off last week so we packed up and headed to the beach! My godmother lives on 30a so we had a free place to stay.

Of course we had to stop here for lunch...tradition!

We go there in the late afternoon but knew we needed to at least let Sally look at the beach. Of course she got soaking wet (and I did too!).

The next day we were at the beach all day. The weather was PERFECT and the water was the prettiest I have ever seen it. There was hardly anyone at our beach.

Sally had so much fun playing in the sand and splashing in the water. Although she has already been to the beach 6 times, its fun to see her reaction each time. She is my little sea turtle...no fear of the water.

Joe had fun in the waves like usual and I even got a few moments to read my magazine.

I somehow forgot to apply sunscreen the first day and got totally fried...not good! For lunch we picked up peel and eat shrimp from our local market.

Each day was the same...wake up...go to the beach until late afternoon, come back and take showers and eat lunch and then nap. After nap we would wake up and get ready for dinner. We ate dinner out every night and tried to hit up a lot of our favorite spots.

We spent our days taking walks to the little lake that feeds into the ocean, catching crabs, watching dolphins in the water and making friends with the families next to us. It was so peaceful :)

We tried a new place for dinner one night..The Surf Hut. The location was fabulous and the food was good. Try it!

We took my godmother out with us and I loved our time together.

One night we even went and got ice cream. Sally kept asking us...wonder where she gets her sweet tooth from?

One day we tried stand up paddle boarding. It looks like it would be so easy...and maybe it would be on a lake, but in an ocean with waves going under the board it was hard. I sat on my knees and paddled out (that part was easy) but it was hard to stand up with the waves. I was especially scared to fall off since sharks had been spotted earlier in the day. It was rush though ;) I would love to try it again when the water is a little more calm. It was a great workout!

All in all, it was a fabulous and stress free trip...and we will be back soon!

Sand Between My Toes and Pretty Much the Best Mother's Day Ever!!

Two weeks ago we spent 6 glorious days in Sandestin, FL. We had a really rough night with Sally...she was up all night and I woke up feeling super nauseous. We were about 2 hours late getting on the road but we really needed some sleep. Sally was so good on the drive down. Seriously...so good! We have a DVD player in our car so between endless Disney movies, reading books, eating snacks, singing songs and napping, she was a happy girl.

We stopped at Chick-fil-a for lunch and let her play for a good 30 minutes on the playground.

We finally got to the condo and it was really nice. It was located in Tops'l right next to Sandestin. Although we were a short walk to the beach, it was fine. I loved how the condo was decorated ;) Here is a picture.

We were right by one of the pools...like it was literally outside our door so that was really nice too!

Joe's mom and stepdad were supposed to fly in that night but got stuck in Dallas due to bad weather. We made the most of it...a quick trip to the beach for Sally, grabbing a quick dinner at Elmo's Grill on 30a and heading to the grocery to get food for the week.

Elmo's Grill is a cash only, no nonsense type of place...with great food and live music. Here is a picture I stole.

The next morning we drove over to Ft Walton beach to get Joe's parents from the airport. As soon as we came back it was beach time. Sally was so happy to have her feet back in the sand.

After several hours at the beach it was back to the condo for a late lunch, showers and nap for Sally. When she woke up, we got ready to go to dinner. I had a little photo shoot with her...she was not at all interested.

For dinner, we headed to Local Catch. It's on 30a and never has a wait. I had some yummy Caribbean shrimp tacos.

That night we watched Frozen for the first time..crazy I know!

The next day it looked a little cloudy/rainy but we went to the beach for a few hours in the morning. Sally loved the sand, the water, the waves, the seagulls...you name it. She was in her element and wasn't scared of anything.

That night we cleaned up and drove into Destin to the Crab Trap.

I hadn't been there in several years but it was a place we used to go to all the time growing up. I was pleasantly surprised. I had the Blackened Shrimp Skewers with Pineapple Salsa, fresh veggies and rice. It was really yummy!!

After dinner we walked out on the beach to take some pictures. I managed to not get one shot of all three of us the whole trip...boo!

The next morning we woke up early. It was Mother's Day and Joe surprised me with some gorgeous Kendra Scott earrings that I have wanted for a while...and he even went early to get doughnuts from the Doughnut Hole!!

Right after a delicious breakfast it was time to hit the beach. The sun came out in full force and Joe and I got cooked.

We went to eat dinner at Louisiana Lagniappe (my favorite place in the area). It was fabulous!!

Seriously....best Mothers Day ever. Can I please spend every Mothers Day at the beach from here on out??!!

The next day was our last day. The sun was out again and since we had gotten burnt the day before we had to be extra careful.

My sexy hubby pulling the wagon to the beach.
Seriously...I could get used to this view!!

That night we went to dinner at Stinky's Fish Camp on 30a. It was yummy (as usual). After dinner, we drove down 30a to Seagrove so I could scope out the house we have rented for October.

We had such a fabulous trip. I love having Joe's parents with us...not only are they a big help but they are super fun ;) I truly could live at the beach...no joke...every time we go down there we get start looking at real estate. I can't wait to go back in October!!
