5 On Friday

{one}
I'm so lucky to live near a Pottery Barn Outlet. Over the years we have found some amazing deals! This week we picked up two sconces for the upcoming bathroom renovation. We paid $19 each plus 20% off and they are still online for $79 each...score!!!

{two}
Sally is REALLY into Minnie Mouse right now. Gee, being a Disney travel agent and obsessed with Disney World, I wonder if I had anything to do with that? :)

I picked up this Minnie dress/costume at Babies R Us last week. She literally squealed when she saw it.

{three}
I have been so excited to make Sally's lunch in her lunch box on the days that she goes to "school". I love this one. It matches her cup and fork/spoon set. A company agreed to send me one to review...score!

{four}
I just about screamed when I saw NSYNC on the VMA's. I wish they would have stayed on stage longer but now I can keep my fingers crossed for a possible reunion. Joe was in the kitchen saying, "if only you had played your cards different...". A story for another blog post, but I used to know Justin and talk to him on the phone. :)

We are heading to the pool today before it closes for the summer. Sally loves to swim!!

Sally's First Day of School

Today was Sally's first day of Mothers Day Out. She is going to the sweetest little school two days a week and I swear she was even more excited than we are. I felt so proud as I watched her walk right in with her little pigtails bouncing up and down. Such a big girl! I was frantic last night. I had to make sure everything was labeled, get her bag packed, make her lunch and make a "happy" for her teachers.

I made her first lunch and I was so excited about it. I'm such a dork. I really want to get into the whole "bento" craze. Although she is too young for all the cute accessories you can add (home girl would eat them!), I can still make them as cute as possible.

Sally woke up bright and early and was ready for her exciting day!

We walked into her sweet school, signed in and found her cubby. I put her lunchbox and backpack on her hook and her blanket, Minnie Mouse and paci in her cubby.

Once we washed her hands (required in the room), she was ready to get down and start playing. Mom fail set in...I TOTALLY forgot to take a picture of her in front of the house. I wanted to start this tradition and do it every year. I guess I will have to recreate the first day on her second day :)

Joe and I got into an arguement. I was one of those moms that wanted to stay and take some pictures. Joe was rushing me and I got no pictures that I wanted :(  I cried on the way home because things did not go exactly the way I wanted. I was mad!!  Joe calmed me down and told me that we would get pictures when we picked her up. OK......

So we go pick her up and I did get some pictures :) I was disappointed that she had pulled her pig tails out...but what can I expect after a hard day of playing!!

She had so much she wanted to show us! She was especially excited about this Dora book.

When it was time to leave, she walked down the hall like she owned the place.

Her sweet teacher sent me an email later in the day with these pictures.  I love this one of the class eating their lunch. They sit in little chairs....so friggin cute!

Sally eating her lunch that I packed for her.

Sweet girl sleeping at nap. They sleep on little cots and I was told that Sally tried to get off her cot a few times. Once she finally fell asleep, she slept hard.

She was exhausted by the time we got home. She was so ready for bed tonight.

I am so happy that she had a wonderful day and I pray that she continues to love school and makes a lot of great friends.

5 on Friday

{one}
I am so excited for the weekend. We don't really have any plans and that feels great! Tonight we are just going to stay in, grill out and watch a movie.

{two}
I kept having a problem of Joe picking out things for Sally to wear that I didn't approve of...they were a little too big, a little too small, had a small stain, etc. I made these little signs to hang on the hangers so he never has to wonder what I want her to wear. Dressing a little girl is super fun and I want to do it everyday....I know, I'm stingy!  You can find the free printable to make your own here.

We had decided to wait and save up more money before re-doing the bathroom, but our house had another idea. We have a broken drain and a leak somewhere. Since we are on a concrete slab, the only way to fix/find the problem is to jack hammer up the floor. Since we have to do that anyway, it seemed like a good time to go ahead and tackle the bathroom. Joe has been itching to do it, so he is super excited to look at tile, buy fixtures, etc. We knew that we wanted a 2 sink vanity and began our search. We found one we loved on Amazon for around $1,400. We randomly looked on Craigslist one day and found the EXACT one...for $900!! There was a guy who bought it for a house he was flipping and it ended up not being big enough. His loss was our gain!

Speaking of bathrooms, I have been given full reign over the upstairs guest bath/Sally's bath. We cannot gut it, so I am using what I have to work with and trying to refresh things a bit. I ordered this shower curtain from Urban Outfitters. They are offering free shipping on everything right now!

I picked up this adorable bathing suit/hats for our trip in October. I bought it from a girl off a local selling site and got a great deal! Miss Sally is going to be so cute at the beach!

I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! Joe brought me home a Gibson's doughnut so my weekend is already off to a great start!!

Colorful Shabby Chic Wreath Tutorial

So I saw some really pretty wreaths that they made at Whatever Craft Weekend. I knew that I wanted to try and make one similar. I went to Jo-Anns and found a wooden word. I spray painted it yellow.

I went to Hobby Lobby and bought a straw wreath using a 40% off coupon. I also picked up and 1/8 of a yard of several different printed fabrics. They were all on sale for 40% off. I gathered some scraps of burlap I had, some straight pins, and various ribbons and trim.

Here are all my supplies gathered up.

First I alternated strips of burlap and different printed fabric. Instead of gluing them down, I just used straight pins. I liked doing that so I could change things around if I wanted to. I was surprised on how little fabric I ended up using! After I got the burlap and fabric on, it was time to decorate. I just gathered some scrap pom-poms, ric rac scraps, ribbons, etc. I also pinned on a paper doily.

I hot glued my wooden word and some fabric flowers and I was done! I am really pleased with how it turned out. It's so bright and cheerful :)

Please let me know if you have any questions.
