The Ultimate Wedding Week: The Reception

Today I am showing you the reception. We had it in the church's reception hall...good thing we are Episcopalians....we can drink and dance!

Joe and I were announced to everyone and we came into the song, "I Gotta Woman" by Ray Charles. We immediately went into our first dance. We had been taking dancing lessons and the song we danced to was "The Very Thought of You" by Billie Holiday.

We did a great job!!

There was even a dip at the end!

Next it was time for me to dance with my Daddy. We danced to the song, "Pennies from Heaven" by Billie Holiday (can ya'll tell I love old music?!) It is a special song that always makes me think of my dad.

The Joe danced with his mom to the sing, "Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison.

Pretty sure my mom and brother joined in as well.

Here are some pictures from the reception. I will go into more detail with the next post which is "all the details".

Joe and I cut the cake to the song, "Sugar, Sugar" by The Archies.

We had made a pact NOT to smear cake in each others faces.

I did the bouquet toss to "Girls" by The Beastie Boys.
Joe did the garter toss to "Hot for Teacher" by Van Halen...you know since I am a Kindergarten teacher and all...and yes...that is a snorkel he busted out...he is so crazy!
The came the dancing!! There was a lot of danicing.
We danced on the floor, we danced on tables, we had a conga line (doing the canoe) all around the room.

The ladies doing "Stop in the Name of Love".
Joe and I laying...yes, laying on the floor for "Shout" when they say "and a little bit softer now".
We danced all night!! That was my favorite part. You know how sometimes you go to a wedding and no one dances? That was SO NOT ours! We had everyone on the dance floor! We only had oldies...no Black Eyed Peas, Cha-Cha Slide...none of that! Only good old fashioned oldies and Mo-town...great music for dancing!!

The last song we danced to was, "Midnight the Stars and You". You may recognize it from The Shining...strange choice? Maybe. But I have always liked it.

Joe and I left the reception in a vintage London taxi cab!

And just for fun...here is the cake at the end of the night :)
