Check Me Out!!

Monkey Bread Bakery was recently featured on the site cakespy.com. I love this site and the cute little cuppie cake cartoons that it features. It is definitely one of the most popular cupcake sites out there.

Here is the link if you would like to check it out:

"She's a real Doppelgänger Clark!"

It's Doppelgänger week on Facebook. Joe and I have both been mistaken for these two celebs. Do you see any resemblance?

BFF Photoshoot!

So my good friend, Beth, got a super cool camera for Christmas and she brought it to Girls Weekend last week in Knoxville. We had a little photo shoot downtown. Enjoy!

Flashback Friday!!

This was one of our first trips together when we were dating- Hot Springs, Arkansas. It was a nice little getaway. This picture was taken in a bathtub in one of the old bathhouses.

Cute Suit!!

I love this swimsuit from J Crew. I bought one like this last year at Target and Joe did not like it. He said it looked like something a "mom" would wear. He likes bikinis. So.....I took it back. I think it is adorable....so retro and comfy :) I can picture myself on a beach somewhere wearing a big hat and my black Chanel sunglasses. If Target comes out with another one this year, sorry Joe. It's on like donkey kong!!

Fist Pumpin' In The USA

So this past weekend we went to Natalie's house for Girl's Weekend. Those pictures are coming soon, but I couldn't wait to post these crazy ones. On Saturday night after dinner, Kristy and I decided to make ourselves into Guidette's from Jersey Shore. We had gone to Sephora earlier in the day and scored a very orange foundation samples that we used to "tan" our faces. After putting bumps in our hair, "a la Snookie", we were ready for a photo shoot!
Here is "K-Pow". She loves ham after a long night of dancing!
Oh yeah, here is "Sweet Sensation". She loves tanning and being out of control.

McFatty Monday

I did not even want to weigh myself this morning....and didn't. I did not eat right all weekend while we were doing Girls Weekend. Panera, Abuelo's, Lakeside Grill, Cafe 4.....all yummy food and no, I have no idea how many calories were in anything :)

Here is my schedule/menu planning for the week:

Flashback Friday

Tan, skinny, blissful.....so fabulous in Mykonos, Greece (Paradise Beach to be exact). This was taken on our honeymoon. Oh, how I wish I was there today. I am in desperate need of a beach!! Greece is by far my most favorite place on Planet Earth...so far. I could live there..seriously! Joe and I were so in our element and people actually thought we were Greek :) OPA!!

Where My Girls At?

This weekend is Girls Weekend!! Yay...I need some girl time like nobody's business! We are heading to Natalie's house in Knoxville for some shopping, eating, and spa time :) I am so glad that we get together and stay in touch. These girls are my best friends from college and we have a lot of fun and crazy memories together. We will miss Abigail (she is in Africa). We will have to plan a girls trip for when she gets back. I will post pictures when I get back....so excited!!

All You Need Is LOVE!!

When Joe and I were in Savannah a few weeks ago, we ran across the cutest store, @home vintage general. They were having a sale and had all kinds of treasures. One of our favorite things they had were all of these old game pieces. We dug through the bins until we spelled out what we wanted. We were trying to figure out what to make and this is what we came up with. I'm thinking about painting the frame black. I just think it might looks a little better black. What do you think?

Citrus Time!

So excited...I just bought this Dash & Albert rug online for the kitchen. I first saw it when Joe and I were in Savannah, but did not buy it. It's the cutest one that I have seen. I couldn't resist, especially with free shipping! I will post pics when I get it.

Getting ahead of myself...

Some of you may or may not know that Joe and I have started talking babies....So of course I have babies on the brain right now. Here are some cute baby rooms that I like. Notice a theme of pink and green....if the little one ends up a boy, it won't have a chance :) I will let you peeps know when it finally happens. We are talking about starting to try in the spring. I know it's ahead of time....but I just can't help myself!!

I am a child of the 80's...

I was thinking about being a kid today when life was so simple. It made me get to thinking about my favorite toys. Did you have any of these? I loved play-doh!!
I had Rainbow Brite and some of her friends. I also loved to watch the movies/shows.
Who could forget Pound Puppies?
Oh my gosh...I almost forgot about the Get Along Gang...I loved all the characters and their caboose.
Popples!! Remember how they rolled up into a ball?
Shine Little Glow Worm...shimmer, shimmer....I had a big one that had a switch that you could turn to get it to light up. I used to like to snuggle in bed with it. I also had a few of the small ones.
I loved Barbies! I would spend so much time getting the house ready and all the Barbies dressed. That was more fun then actually playing with them.
She-ra...Princess of Power!! Yes, I had the doll, her castle, and the dress up outfit for myself.
I know it's a boy toy, but I loved playing with Star Wars Action figures...especially the Ewoks and their tree house.
My Little Pony. I had a bunch of the ponies, baby ponies, and sea ponies....and the castle.
Did you have one of these charm necklaces? I had the strangest charms...like an egg cooking in a pan...weird!!
My most favorite EVER was Strawberry Shortcake. I had so many of these little figures. I still have them and yes, they still smell good. One year when I was 2 or 3, all I wanted was this big "shortcake house"....yes, that is what I called it. It was Strawberry Shortcakes house and it had all the furniture, etc.
Well...I didn't get that house. My dad told my mom there was no way they were spending $100 on plastic....typical! I got this little guy and still had a lot of fun, but I literally have never forgotten it and my parents have never forgiven themselves for not getting it for me.

I LOVED Fisher Price "little people". I had so many of the people and also the garage, farm, club house, merry go round, etc. I would set up the whole town.

Charmkins!!

What were your favorites?

Scheduling Sunday

We had a great weekend!! On Friday night, our friends Lindsey and Nick came over for fajitas and a little Beatles Rockband. On Saturday, I went to a scrapbooking class and Joe worked in the yard. On Saturday night we went to dinner with Lindsey/Nick and Erin/Brandon. We went to Outback Steakhouse. Now let's just be clear...I have not eaten at an Outback since like 2001 and when I did, I had a bad experience. I wrote a letter to the manager and he sent me a gift certificate for $20 which I have held onto all these years. So...Joe and I ate for free last night...yay!! I was nervous if they would still take it, but they did. Go me!! After dinner we went to see "Rain" at the Orpheum. It was awesome. Our seats were on the floor and right in the middle. Believe it or not, Joe and I both got teary eyed at one point. It is just so moving to see such awesome music :)

This week should easy breezy. I have Monday off school and on Friday I leave for Nashville/Knoxville for a much needed weekend with my girls! Here is my schedule for the week.

Monday: I am off school for MLK day. I plan on doing some scrapbooking, getting my car cleaned and working out. The Bachelor comes on tonight, so Lindsey will be coming over like usual so we can laugh at all the crazy psycho girls who want the attention of a guy who I think might be a little fruity :)
Tuesday: I have a kick boxing class at 5:45
Wednesday: Hitting the gym after school.
Thursday: I have Environmental Club after school and Zumba at 7:00.
Friday: I am taking a 1/2 day off work so that I can drive to Nashville. Then Kristy, Beth and I are driving to Knoxville.
Saturday: Shopping, Spa, eating with my girls in Knoxville.
Sunday: Come home and get ready for another week :) I need to make cupcakes for the JL Mtg. on Monday night. Yikes!! I just realized that I am going to be missing The Bachelor....no good. I will have to watch it online later I guess. Boo!

Getting to know you :)

Hi!! I'm Sarah and I am copying this from Laura. Today has been an easy Saturday. I went to a scarpbooking class this morning and now I am baking cookies and Joe is watching football. So...without further ado, here is a little about me.

I am- a wife, a mother (to my little boobie woobie"), a sister, a daughter, a daughter in law, an aunt, a best friend, a Kindergarten teacher, and a cupcake princess.

I have- all that I need and more...

I want- to travel all over and be a great wife and mother.

I fear- snakes, eels, robbers, dogs not on leashes coming after my dog, and loosing the ones I love.

I search- for ways to enjoy life more and help others.

I wonder- what my mom is doing in heaven and where we will be in our lives in 5 years :)

I regret- nothing....it has made me who I am.

I love- my life. I am living it exactly how I want and I am surrounded by love.

I always- take my make up off before bed and tell Joe I love him.

I usually- send my friends cards on their birthdays.

I am not- ever going to be super skinny :)

I dance- all the time!!

I sing- in the shower, in the car, at school....everywhere!

I never- eat cheese.....ewww!!

I cry- once every few weeks.

Magical Mystery Tour

Joe and I are going to see "Rain" at the Orpheum this Saturday night. To say we are excited does not even cut it. We were able to see this show last year and LOVED it! It honestly changed my life. We love the Beatles and this is the next best thing to being with the real band. I will report back after with pictures :)

Flashback Friday

This picture was taken when Joe and I first started dating. We went to the River Kings Hockey game and Joe insisted that we paint our faces. Here we are after the game with the turtle mascot. Awww...memories!

McFatty Monday

I know it's not technically, but it looks like I am jumping on the "McFatty Monday" bandwagon. I would like to loose about 20 pounds. It has s-l-o-w-l-y crept back on after the wedding and I feel like if I do not loose it now, I never will. I will hopefully gaining a baby bump this summer and I want to be in the best shape possible before that. I have always battled with a little extra weight my whole life....I guess it doesn't help that my thyroid doesn't work ( and hasn't since 3rd grade). I do take pills for that, but I think my metabolism will always be a little behind where it should be. I joined a gym here in Memphis in December and LOVE it! The classes and so fun and it's my goal to try them all. I also like the cardio equipment. They all have their own TV's attached, so I like to go during "my shows" and watch....it makes the time go faster.

Here is my current exercise schedule:
Monday: Pilates or Cardio
Tuesday: Yoga Class
Wednesday: Step Class
Thursday: Zumba Class
Friday: my off day.....or if I feel like it, Cardio
Saturday: Hip Hop Dance...I thought it was Zumba the first time I went...you know I'm in there shaking my groove thing :)
Sunday: Day off or Cardio

I have also been tracking what I eat everyday on www.livestrong.org. It breaks down your food and shows you how many sugars, carbs., etc. are eating. YIKES!! Did you know that in 2 Jolly Ranchers there are 131 grams of carbs??!! This site has really held me accountable for what I am putting in my body. For example, this is what I have had to eat today:

Breakfast: dry Raisin Nut Bran-measured out and in a baggie that I eat on the way to school.
I eat the cereal, not the baggie, silly!

Lunch: mixed fruit salad (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries), carrot and english cucumber slices with hummus, 24 raw almonds, and 4 Biscoff (ginger) cookies.

Snack: granola bar and pretzels

For dinner I might be doing the Taco Bell "drive-thru" diet :) I liked the Fresco tacos before they were cool :) I hate cheese!! I also might make a salad and eat with some baguette.

As you can see, I am not eating much....trying to stay at about 1,200-1,300 calories a day to loose 2 pounds a week. Bikini Mama here I come!!

Savannah, GA

Joe and I took a fun trip to Savannah, GA for a quick New Year's getaway. After driving 10 hours and checking into our hotel, we went and got yummy pizza at Vinnie Van Go-Gos'....it was delish! I found it on Tripadvisor and I must say it didn't disappoint.
The next morning, we woke up and took a walking tour of the historic district with "Savannah Dan"...once again, found him on Tripadvisor. Have I mentioned I LOVE that sight. It is the best and always leads us to the best hotels, restaurants, and things to do. We saw a lot of neat things on our tour. Above is the church that was used in Forest Gump when the feather floats by at the end.
This is right behind the spot where the famous Forest Gump bench was.....only it is not usually there. It was only there for the movie...so there is no bench. The closest thing is this bench close by. Here are me and Joe doing our best to look "simple" like Forest, Forest Gump :)
Joe would like to be a Mason someday. I think he likes the idea of a secret society meeting in old buildings. Savannah Dan took a picture the oldest Mason building in Georgia reflecting in Joe's glasses. I like this picture a lot!
Here we are with Savannah Dan. What an awesome tour and tour guide. He really knows his stuff and taught us in a fun way.
Joe and I like spooky stuff, so a stop by the cemetery was definitely on the agenda. This was was very old. A bunch of the tombstones were knocked over by soldiers and horses from General Sherman's army when they camped here. They were not very nice to the graves and some of them actually changed the dates on the graves so that they died before they were born, etc. Naughty boys! The tombstones lined up on the wall were some that got knocked over and they did not know where to put them back. We also took a candle light ghost tour.....spooky!!

Here we are at Forsythe Park in front of the famous fountain.
We went to The Pirate's House for dinner one night. While the place is full of history, the food was lacking. It is actually a place where famous pirates used to hang out. The owners have made it into almost like a Hard Rock Cafe....complete with a Johnny Depp wanna be and overpriced shrimp. They were playing The Jackson's Christmas album for crying out loud.

We drove out to Tybee Island to see what all the fuss was about. Maybe it was the weather (COLD), or maybe it was the shops (tacky), but we were not impressed. I will take Destin any day! We did take pictures in front of the pier and fed some birds. They were swarming and was scary! We also collected our sand. We collect sand from every beach we go to.

Awww...I have such a sweet husband! It says, "I (heart) Scrunsh" (that's my nickname).
We also drove to Beaufort, SC to look at a neighborhood called Habersham. It's the cutest place right in the middle of nowhere. It reminded me of across between Seaside and Dawsons Creek. We got to go inside and look at the Southern Living Cottage that was up for grabs last year. It's on the market for about $400,000. It would be a really nice and safe place to live.
For dinner on NYE, we hit up The Olde Pink House (thanks Tripadvisor). It was sooooo yummy! One of the best meals I have ever had :)

I had to take a picture in front of the old Episcopal Church and below is Joe with a lucky fish spout. Legend says that if you rub it when it is raining, you will have good luck....go Joe!

Here is our hotel, the trusty Hampton Inn. You just can't go wrong....free breakfast, comfy beds, etc. We had a great time and I would love to go back soon!
