Trip Flashback-St. Maarten

In January of 2007, Joe and I decided to take advantage of our flight benefits and meet some friends in St. Maarten for a long weekend. Here we are at the Memphis Airport getting ready to go....look how cute Joe is in his pilots uniform!
We stayed at the Royal Sonesta Maho Beach Resort. I stole these pictures from the website....not the nicest hotel ever, but we got an amazing deal!

Here is our room

and Joe in the bathroom....it was quite European with a bidet.

We immediately changed into our suits and got on the beach. The sun was already going down, but we didn't care....we were on the beach while all our friends were in the cold Memphis weather!

One of the craziest things about our hotel is that is located right next to the airport and I do mean RIGHT next to it..hence the sign!

We changed and everyone went to dinner. These are Joe's pilot buddies....friends that he went to college with.

I of course had to find some chocolate!

The next day, Joe and I decided to take a cab into the town and see what was there...not very much!

We decided it was best to come back to our hotel and get into bathing suits and on the beach! Look, at plane is coming in on Joe's finger!

Joe and I always bring our own snorkel stuff...you never know when you may need it.

Later, we got dressed up and met everyone for dinner.

On the last day (before heading back home) we spent some more time on the beach and at the pool.

It was a fun, fast trip...but totally worth it!!

Oh, and it you are interested in seeing what it is like being so close to the airport when the planes come in/go out, check out this video. I cannot find the one that I took, but this one is pretty crazy. The sand blasts the back of your legs and it hurts!!

I'll Call You Baby

I saw this on the fabulous blog, Lay Baby Lay, and thought it applied to some emotions that I have been feeling lately. I am so excited to have Baby Sally....I can't even tell you how excited I am...but there is a part of me that wonders how it will affect me and Joe. I know that babies take up a lot of time but I worry about Joe and I won't have "our" time anymore. I know it is something that we will have to make time for. It has been just the two of us (three if you count Hank) for so long, it will be strange to have another person in the mix. My friends who have kids have told me that yes, it does change your relationship with your husband...but for the better. Making the decision to have a baby was something we decided after years of spending time together and having adventures. I think this is just another crazy adventure in the "World of Sarah and Joe". Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Is it bad for me to feel this way? Or normal??

TGIF-Weekend Planning

Woo-hoo!! I am so ready for the weekend. It is getting harder to stand on my feet all day long. I need some relaxation in my life!

Fill In The Blank Friday

I am linking up with Lauren at The Little Things We Do for "Fill in the Blank Friday".

1. If money wasn't an issue, the first thing I'd cross of my life list is traveling around the world .

2. The smell of gasoline is something I like that other people think is weird.

3. If my life were a movie right now, the title would be "The Life and Times of Sarah" .

4. Three things I am looking forward to this month are my hubby's birthday , Valentine's Day and of course....meeting baby Sally!!

5. My favorite song to sing in the shower is show tunes.

6. If I found out that the production of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups was ending this month, I'd go out and buy as much as I could tomorrow.

7. One thing I'll never grow tired of is traveling .

    My Dining Room

I wanted to start sharing my house with you. It's little but it's home to us and we love it! Here is our dining room. We bought the table/chairs and buffet from Pottery Barn Outlet after we bought the house. Yes, we are lucky and live less than 15 minutes away from a Pottery Barn, William Sonoma, and West Elm Outlet....it's dangerous to say the least! The table and buffet are from the Montego collection and we got a great deal!! I don't think PB sells them anymore though...boo! I'm not a HUGE fan of the light fixture that currently hangs in there...it came with the house and we have never changed it. I may paint it black to give it a wrought iron look...or we may just buy a new one soon. As you can see, we have a pretty bay window that looks out into the back yard of the house.

I got the mirror over the buffet at World Market and the candle scones were 1/2 price at Hobby Lobby. I try to always have fresh flowers as part of my "table scape".

Right now, we have a "spring" type set up going on. I figured this was the easiest thing to do since the baby would be here so soon. I have a glass atrium filled with vintage books, a white bird, and a fake succulent plant. I also have a vintage white milk glass vase filled with some fresh flowers.
I love our dragonfly stained glass window that hangs on the bay window. It was a wedding gift from my mom's college roommate. She knows that we LOVE dragonflies.
For the art on the walls, we have a vintage style subway sign from Z Gallerie,
some DIY art of the old NYC subway system,
and three pictures from our trip to Thailand. I periodically change these pictures out.
So there you have it....our dining room :)

    38 Weeks

*So we went to the Dr. for our 38 week appt. First we did the ultrasound and saw our sweet girl. The ultrasound tech said it looked like Sally was measuring a bit small....which made me instantly light headed! The tech did say that my fluid looked good. When the Dr. came in, she also said Sally looked like she was measuring small...around 5 lbs. 7 oz. This was a shock since I assumed she must weigh 7 lbs. by now. She said I have had no complications so they were not worried about a growth problem. I was not dilated and my cervix was still soft. They want me to come back in on Monday so they can do another ultrasound and check my fluid. They mentioned inducing me. I am wondering two things at this point: Maybe I was never as far along as they thought? If there is no medical problem, why inducing? I would prefer for her to stay inside me and "bake" a little bit longer....maybe she will come at 41 weeks? Do ya'll have any experience with this? I am a little nervous....

    *How far along?: 38 weeks...9 1/2 months...or am I??
    *How big is your baby?: still a large watermelon! {she will be a watermelon until he gets here}
*Total weight gain?: at my appt. today I had gained 33 pounds total.
    *Sex: Little Miss Sally
*Maternity clothes: Mostly maternity clothes...the funny thing if that I don't have ANY maternity PJ's so every night I stretch my regular sized t-shirts over my belly and they eventually stretch out.
*Stretch marks: UGH!!! Don't get me started....I thought I was going to be one of the "lucky ones" that didn't get them....no such luck. I have three small ones on my left side and some on my lower belly...not cool...not cool AT ALL!! I am trying to not let it get to me since there is NOTHING I can do about it at this point.
*Movement: She is OUT of room so movement has slowed down a little bit...but she is still active a lot at night. It is so weird to see my belly moving!
*Sleep: Hardly at all....I wake up every few hours hot and having to pee..and then I get anxious and my mind goes a mile a minute. I'm over it!
*Best moment this week: The nursery is done, we got to see Sally on the ultrasound, and my hospital bag is all packed expect for last minute throw in items.
    *Food cravings: Fruit, pizza, chocolate
*Labor signs: A lot of cramps that feel like "pre-period" cramps.
*Belly button in or out: Still in but stretched....
*What I miss: being able to walk normally....
*What I'm looking forward to: Monday and our next ultrasound....I want to make sure that everything is OK with the baby.
