It's ALL about this card. Of course it also helps that we have friends to stay with in most major cities and for a few years, Joe flew for free and I got discounted tickets. If you don't have the hook up like that, let me introduce you to my little friend: The Diamond Preferred Rewards Citi Card. We have had this card for several years. I actually had it before we were married...don't know how I chose this one...but, boy I am glad that I did! After we got married, I added Joe to the account and got him his own special black card. We put EVERYTHING on the card....groceries, gas, prescriptions, household purchases, clothes, cell phone, MLGW, Comcast, co-pays, vet bills, going out to dinner, travel...etc.!! Believe me, it all adds up! You get 3-5 points for every dollar spent at grocery stores or gas stations, and 1 point for every dollar spent at other places. You get points just for signing up for the card and after awhile you WILL have enough to get stuff for free. Here is what we have gotten so far:
2 round trip airline tickets
5 nights at a Disney World Resort
7 night cruise for 2
5 night cruise for 2
And that my friends is how we travel for cheap. We only had to pay $150 for us to both go on the 5 night cruise last year. Yes ma'am you read that right, $150 for 2 people to go on a 5 night cruise. We still paid for airfare....but still...that's a heck of a deal. Let me know if you have anymore questions. I have helped so many people get this card and they have all been so happy. Wow! That's awesome! We really need to pick one of our credit cards and start using JUST THAT ONE. We have so many points throughout different companies, but never seem to rack up enough points for anything substantial. I think H has this card, good to know you actually got some trips out of it!
