Sally's First Concert!
In our house we ALL love Yo Gabba Gabba. The songs are catchy and fun and thee show keeps Miss Sally occupied while Mommy gets ready in the morning. When I heard they were coming to Memphis, I knew we were taking Sally for her birthday...and Joe and I were pretty excited too!!
If you havent seen Yo Gabba Gabba, here is an example of a song:
Let's just say that Sally LOVED the show. She watched the whole thing and didn't cry or get fussy once!! Im so glad she is not one of those kids who is scared of things :) They had bubble machines, confetti, a crazy old lady wearing a gold spandex outfit....so much fun! The "real" DJ Lance was there so we were all a little starstruck! Biz Markie (You say he's just a friend) was supposed to be there and wasn't so that was a little disappointing....oh well.
Enjoy the video at the end and if Yo Gabba Gabba comes to your town, check it out!
Backyard Plans
I was so excited that our new house had a fenced in backyard. Our dog, Hank, loves it to. The problem is that its pretty ugly and needs lot of landscaping. Joe and I are seriously considering putting in a pool. Here is what it looks like now:
and here are some of my Pinterest inspiration pictures:
A pool is a must and I want a gunite one with either a zero entry or nice big steps....no diving board and no slide....just a simple "lagoon" looking pool. We would also like to build a pool house with a guest room, a pergola, and an outdoor fire pit. With all this also comes landscaping. Its not all going to happen at once but these are long term goals for the yard. I have never lived in a house with a pool or know anything about putting a pool in. Do any of you have any advice. I know we have to be super careful with having a little one though!
Sally's One Year Photo Shoot
Let me just start by saying that I had a lot of ideas for this photo shoot and had been planning it for months....thank you Pinterest. Sally is usually good about taking pictures but the photographer had to come two separate days and we STILL didn't get all the shots I wanted....Miss Princess Pants just wasn't having it! It was like as soon as the camera was on she got fussy. Here are the shots we did get...oh well...there is always next year :)
She was done at this point and just knocked over the cake stand...naughty girl!
By the way, if you are a local Memphis girl, Allison Fay Photography took all these pictures and she did a great job and was extremely patient :)

Sally's First Birthday!!!
I have been pinning pictures and ideas on Pinterest for the last few months so I knew what "theme" I wanted for her first birthday....OWLS....in my signature colors of course! One of the best things I did was to hire an amazing photographer to take pictures of the day and all of the details. It was so nice to be able to visit with all of the guests and enjoy the party without a camera around my neck trying to get a bunch of pictures. Best money spent! It was amazing seeing my vision come together and having everything so pretty for my special birthday girl. Get ready for picture overload.
I tried to fill frames up with Sally pictures and place them around the house.

The Drink Station:
I found the little "S" and owl at Hobby Lobby. The bottles are glass Starbucks bottles. I got them from someone off Craigslist, took the labels off and washed them about 10 times with super hot water.
I had all of the guests bring sealed letters to Sally and place them in the suitcase. I plan to present her with the letters when she turns 18.
Door hanger that I found at Hobby Lobby.
Food Table
I collected brightly colored frames...mostly from Hobby Lobby...and filled them with Sally's monthly pictures.
I made Sally a birthday hat :)
We tried the hat...but she wouldn't keep it on.

She was so not interested in the cupcake...boo! I wanted her to smash it all over her face :(
We had favors....chocolate chip cookies from Costco :)

Thank you so much for sharing our special day with us. This was such a special birthday and I am so happy that we were able to document it.
