Abigail's Baby Shower: You Are My Sunshine

Last weekend I drove up to Franklin, TN to celebrate one of my old room mates/sorority sisters upcoming baby. She is not finding out the gender (ugh!) so we went with a gender neutral yellow/gray/white "You Are My Sunshine" theme. When it came to the invitation I knew for sure that I wanted Lauren Haddox Designs to do them. She did all the printables for Sally's First Birthday and was so pleasant to work with....not to mention her stuff is the cutest!

The shower was hosted by me and my BFF, Kristy. We used a local neighborhood clubhouse (free!). The decor could stand to be updated, but we worked with it.

We had some tissue puffs that we used in a few spots around the room. I used my wooden sign and galvanized vases. I stopped at Trader Joes in Nashville and picked up the sunflowers. The fabric on the tables came from Hobby Lobby.

We printed off some signs that Lauren made for us and put those on a hutch that was in the room.

We made lemonade of course (yellow!) and I wrapped the dispenser with some gray/white chevron ribbon (Hobby Lobby).

I used the water bottle wraps that Lauren designed and wrapped them around my starbucks bottles. Those bottles sure have some in handy! I also used some gray and yellow striped paper straws and made little flags for them.

For the food table, I wrapped some of the fabric around a foam board and I printed off the banner that Lauren designed.

We had chicken salad on croissants (Costco) and I printed off flags from Lauren and glued them on toothpicks to put in the sandwiches.

I wrapped my galvanized stand with ribbon (Hobby Lobby) and we filled the stand with individual fruit cups and little yellow cupcake liners of lemon bar muddy buddies.

We also had a few different kinds of dip with chips and veggies and lemon cupcakes.

For the favors, I used old baby food jars and spray painted the lids yellow. I cut striped of chevron paper (Hobby Lobby) and glued them around the jars. I also cut some circles (using a punch) for the tops of the jars. I used a scallop punch and used some tags that Lauren designed. I filled each jar with lemon drops.

The fancy white frame is from Hobby Lobby.

We had a great time and Abigail seemed to love everything!

Possible Halloween Costumes For Sally

There are so many options when is comes to Halloween costumes for little ones. Here are some of the ones I am considering for Sally.  I love that these are DIY using simple things that are easy to find...much easier than spending money buying something she will only wear once, right?

Birthday List

Meal Plan Monday

It's time for the return of Meal Plan Monday. Oh how I missed you! I know someone who is happy about this (Ryan Palfrey!!) But in all seriousness, since I have become a stay at home mom, meal planning and saving money on things like food/groceries is more important than ever before. We will still probably go out to dinner at least once a week but hopefully this will make grocery shopping easier.

Monday
Cashew Chicken with a Kick
(I will serve with steamed rice and broccoli)

Peanut Butter Kiss Cookies
(Joe LOVES these!!)

Tuesday
(I have some spring roll wrappers in the freezer that have been begging to be used. I have never actually made spring rolls....so this may be interesting. Any tips?)

Wednesday

Thursday
Chicken Tacos
Pioneer Woman Homemade Salsa

Friday-Sunday
Not sure yet...probably grabbing dinner with friends. We also have a pool party on Sunday :)

Do you see a "theme" here? Lots of chicken....lots of cilantro....trying to buy ingredients and use them up before they go bad.

Five On Friday: A Link Up

Woo-Hoo! I am heading to Nashville today and there is a Trader Joe's stop in my future. I am linking up with some fabulous ladies today for 5 On Friday :)

{one}
I got super lucky and found a vintage pull down map that was folded up in someones garbage....right before the garbage truck came! I was just driving by and there it was. I did a quick u turn and it was MINE!! I plan to get the wrinkles out and maybe put it in the guest room...SCORE!

{two}
This really hit home with me. I have seen so many people on Facebook praying for a few different families that have little ones who are really sick. I feel so blessed to have a healthy baby!! I try to make fun memories with Sally every day!

{three}
Through Influenster, the lovely people of Ivory sent me a box of goodies. Yay for free stuff!!

{four}
Have you heard of the Whatever Craft Weekend? It's in Kansas a few times a year. You eat, shop and make super cute crafts. There is a waiting list with over 1500 people on it but they pick at random so everyone has a fair shot. Guess who is on the list? THIS GIRL!! Fingers crossed...it looks right up my alley!

{five}
Have you signed up for Decorsteals? It's kinda like Groupdealz or Veryjane except it offers different home decor items...I'm talking CUTE stuff...Mason Jar soap pumps, wire baskets, etc. If you sign up using this link, we both get $5 off...yay!
