My "Not So Secret" Love Affair!

Hello, my name is Sarah and I am ADDICTED to Target!

There. I said it. I took a half day off work today to go to the dentist (not fun), and since I was out in Cordova I had to stop at Super Target (FUN)! I literally almost giggled when I saw that they had the Halloween stuff on sale (50% off) and the new Christmas stuff out. I love the $1 shop, the clothes, the jewelry, the food, the house stuff.......

Love Him or Hate Him...

Love him or hate him, he sure hits the nail on the head with this!

Bill Gates recently gave a speech at a High School about 11 things they did not and will not learn in school. He talks about how feel-good, politically correct teachings created a generation of kids with no concept of reality and how this concept set them up for failure in the real world.

Rule 1: Life is not fair - get used to it!

Rule 2: The world doesn't care about your self-esteem. The world will expect you to accomplish something BEFORE you feel good about yourself.

Rule 3: You will NOT make $60,000 a year right out of high school. You won't be a vice-president with a car phone until you earn both.

Rule 4: If you think your teacher is tough, wait till you get a boss.

Rule 5: Flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your Grandparents had a different word for burger flipping: they called it opportunity.

Rule 6: If you mess up, it's not your parents' fault, so don't whine about your mistakes, learn from them.

Rule 7: Before you were born, your parents weren't as boring as they are now. They got that way from paying your bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you were. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent's generation, try delousing the closet in your own room.

Rule 8: Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life HAS NOT. In some schools, they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life.

Rule 9: Life is not divided into semesters..... You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you FIND YOURSELF. Do that on your own time.

Rule 10: Television is NOT real life. In real life people actually have to leave the coffee shop and go to jobs.

Rule 11: Be nice to nerds. Chances are you'll end up working for one.

If you can read this -Thank a teacher!

Guest Room Updates

I thought I would post some pictures of what I have been doing in the guest room. It's still a work in progress, but here ya go! I am doing a wall of pictures, quotes, and vintage "M" letters. Except for the frame in the middle, they all came from thrift shops/garage sales and were about 50 cents each. I just spray painted them all black.
As you can see, I found a spot for my vintage seltzer bottle and BINGO card. We will see if this is where they will stay. I cut a piece of burlap too to make a runner to go across.

Haunted Memphis

My dad and I went on a ghost tour at the Woodruff-Fontaine house in Victorian Village this past weekend. Here is some info. about the house and who haunts it.

Woodruff Fontaine House:

There is one room in this historic home that is purported to be haunted. Molly Woodruff Henning is said to inhabit The Rose Room, though she occasionally wanders throughout the rest of the house. A seemingly friendly spirit, Molly reportedly once instructed museum staff on the correct placement of the furniture in her former bedroom.

This bedroom was spooky!!

That little rocker freaked me out....I could imagine it moving on it's own....

Junior League Merry Marketplace Preview Party

This was my second year to do Preview Party. It is really fun and I am honored to be among some of Memphis's best restaurants! My cousin Meg came and helped me. I was soooo glad to have her there! I gave away a lot of cupcakes and got some really positive feedback. Here is what people were saying:
*"Oh....I have heard about this place!"
*"Everyone told me that I HAVE to come over here and try these cupcakes!"
*"These are so much better than Muddy's!"
*"This is the best thing that I have EVER put into my mouth!"
*"I had these at a party last week...sooo good!"
*"I can't wait to order some of these for ______."

I was so happy to hear everyone say such good things about my num-nums....now does anyone want to give me some money for my cupcake shop?

Halloween Happy's!

I made some cute Halloween Happy's for my peeps at work. If you have never had the glorious combination of candy corn and dry roasted peanuts....then you are missing out...YUM-O!
