My Shows Have Started!

I am so excited that my shows are back on. I try not to watch TV too much, but there are a few shows that I HAVE to watch every week! If you have not seen "Supernatural", start at the first season and watch it. TRUST ME!! It's a good thing we do not ave Tivo!!

Sunday in The City

I love Sundays! I always feel like I get so much done. They are relaxing and usually fun. Joe and I went to bed late on Saturday night because we both got home late from our weddings that we attended. But, we did wake up and take a nice walk around the neighborhood with Hank. I do not feel like I NEED to go to church every Sunday. Sometime I feel more spiritually connected to God when I take a walk on a beautiful Sunday morning and spend time with my thoughts and family. Joe and I stopped to see how much all of the houses for sale were going for.....yikes! We are going to have to wait a few years to sale to make sure that we make a little money on our house. When we got back, Joe went to watch the Viking's game with a friend down the street and I went on my couponing adventure. I could not wait to show him all of my loot! Then we went to Pottery Barn Outlet to look for a new rug for the den. We did not find a rug, BUT, we DID find 2 cute new chairs. We could not pass them up. We bought them and brought them home. I think they look super cute and really lighten up the room. For dinner I made Joe my "famous" meatloaf, homemade mac & cheese, green beans with bacon, bread, and salad. I also made pumpkin bars for my Junior League meeting tomorrow night. It was a great day spent with my favorite person (Joe) and my favorite animal (Hank). Next weekend we have the Pink Palace crafts fair and also pumpkin buying time!! I LOVE Fall!

Super Saver Sunday!!!

This morning I woke up early and organized all my coupons with the deals from the Walgreens weekly ad. The end result....all of this for about $7. I always buy dry roasted peanuts and mix them with candy corn during the fall. I package it up cute and give it to people at work. If you have not tried this combo....do it! Sooooo yummy...kinda like a Baby Ruth. Happy Fall!
Then I headed over to the mall and look what I got for free there! Eye shadow from Victoria's Secret, lotion from Bath and Body Works, a card from Hallmark, and samples with a full size bath salt from Aveda. Today was a great day for FREE STUFF!!

Rotus Wedding...DENVER!!

Joe and I had a great time this weekend at "Rotus Wedding Weekend 2009" in Denver. Both of our hotels were really cool. The first one was very modern and reminded me of IKEA. Every time we went past the maids cart, I would take a few more of the mini size Bliss products....love it!!

We drove to Ft. Collins for the day. It only took about an hour. I would have loved to have spent the night there. There were neat shops and hippies everywhere. I really enjoyed the New Belgium Brewery tour. What a neat place to work! They had a rock climbing wall, volleyball court, neat art, and even a slide that went down three stories...see the blurry picture of Joe coming down. I also LOVED the vintage bicycles everywhere!

Our next hotel was in Downtown Denver and VERY nice. It has won lots of awards from various travel magazines.
The bed was soooooo comfy!!
The bathroom had a TV, phone and Aveda products!

Here I am with a bull in Downtown Denver. We ate lunch at Rocky Mountain Brewery.
Kimberly and Doug after their wedding...look at the happy couple!!

Joe is now trying to get me to move to Denver...we eve went to a few open houses. The weather worries me in the winter, but when we were there it was awesome!
Here are some reasons that I am considering it:
*there are a lot of outdoor activities
*everyone rides their bike
*there are lots of things to do, places to eat, etc.
*it seems like a nice place to raise a family
*everyone seems to be into the "healthy lifestyle"
*good shopping
*some really cute houses

We will see....

On Friday afternoon, Joe and I are going on a brewery tour and then to dinner with our friends Nate and Ashley....then on to Oktoberfest!

Once There Was A Little Girl...

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow. (American poet, 1807-1882)

There was a little girl, who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead,
And when she was good, she was very, very good,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

She stood on her head, on her little trundle bed,
With nobody by for to hinder;
She screamed and she squalled, she yelled and she bawled,
And drummed her little heels against the winder.

Her mother heard the noise, and thought it was the boys
Playing in the empty attic,
She rushed upstairs, and caught her unawares,
And spanked her, most emphatic.

Goblins Will Get Ya!!

I know it's only September, but I am already in the mood for Halloween and all things spooky. I am having to use all my self-retraint not to get out my decorations this weekend. In honor of the upcoming holiday, here is a poem that my mother used to tell me. She would grab me every time she said "and the goblins will get ya" and I would squeal with a mixture of fear and delight! I plan to do them same thing to my little ones :)

The Little Orphan Annie
by
James Whitcomb Riley

Little Orphan Annie’s come to my house to stay.
To wash the cups and saucers up and brush the crumbs away.
To shoo the chickens from the porch and dust the hearth and sweep,
and make the fire and bake the bread to earn her board and keep.
While all us other children, when the supper things is done,
we sit around the kitchen fire and has the mostest fun,
a listening to the witch tales that Annie tells about
and the goblins will get ya if ya don’t watch out!

Once there was a little boy who wouldn’t say his prayers,
and when he went to bed at night away up stairs,
his mammy heard him holler and his daddy heard him bawl,
and when they turned the covers down,
he wasn’t there at all!
They searched for him in the attic room
and cubby hole and press
and even up the chimney flu and every wheres, I guess,
but all they ever found of him was just his pants and round-abouts
and the goblins will get ya if ya don’t watch out!!

Once there was a little girl who always laughed and grinned
and made fun of everyone, of all her blood and kin,
and once when there was company and the old folks was there,
she mocked them and she shocked them and said, she didn’t care.
And just as she turned on her heels and to go and run and hide,
there was two great big black things a standing by her side.
They snatched her through the ceiling fore she knew what shes about,
and the goblins will get ya if ya don’t watch out!!

When the night is dark and scary, and the moon is full and creatures are a flying and the wind goes Whoooooooooo, you better mind your parents and your teachers fond and dear, and cherish them that loves ya, and dry the orphans tears and help the poor and needy ones that cluster all about, or the goblins will get ya if ya don’t watch out!!!

Meal Planning

OK...so this picture has NOTHING to do with meal planning, but I think posts without pictures are boring...so TA-DA!! A few weeks ago I went to a coupon class at my church. I have been using coupons and taking advantage of rebate programs for years, but I still managed to learn a few things. I am trying to do better with my meal planning while using stuff that is already in my pantry/freezer. It's easier that way and it saves money. In the past few weeks, I have gotten some great deals and lots of FREE stuff. I really like Walgreen's new Register Rewards program and I have learned how to manipulate it so that they pay ME!! So, without further ado, here are my meal plans for the week. Joe will be gone all week so it is just me :(

Monday: Grilled Shrimp with Corn, Tomato, and Basil
Tuesday: Pick up a FREE rotisserie chicken from Whole Foods, lemon roasted asparagus, spinach pecan salad
Wednesday: GIRLS NIGHT!!
Thursday: Leftovers....
Friday: Leaving for Denver!!

**I am also baking Praline Apple Bread for my girls at school

Flashback Friday!

This was Friday, June 9, 2006, the night of my rehearsal dinner. After a delicious meal at Wang's Mandarin House in downtown Memphis, we hit up Beale Street. These are Joe's crazy friends from Embry Riddle (aviation school) in Arizona. They are some of his best buddies and they are sooo fun! All of them are pilots now or different companies and we have gone on a lot of adventures with them.

Oh Sam and Dean...How We Have Missed You!!

Our favorite show come back on TONIGHT!! YAY!! Joe and I LOVE Supernatural. If you have not watched it yet, you should. It's all things spooky. It comes on the CW on Thursday nights. Get ready...woo-woo!

Best Birthday....EVER!!

Once upon a time, there was a birthday princess who had a pilot prince. He whisked her away to the most magical place on earth so that her day would be perfect...and it was!
The birthday princess and the pilot stayed at a magical place called the "Disney All-Star Sports Resort". It had a great pool where the princess and pilot worked on their tans.

For dinner, the princess and the pilot took a ride over to the Boardwalk Resort where they ate dinner at Kouzzina, Cat Cora's (Food Network chef) new restaurant. It was Greek and soooo yummy! They even brought out a birthday treat for the princess!

The princess and the pilot woke up early so that they would be one of the first people to enter into the magical kingdom. The workers gave the princess a button so that EVERYONE would know it was her birthday. They also tried on funny hats.

The princess got one of her favorite treats, a Dole Pineapple Whip........makes my mouth water!
The princess and the pilot thought for a minute that they might want to change into pirates....arrrrrhhhhggggg!
The princess and the pirate rode many fun rides!

The pilot got sick (not really) from riding the magical teacups....the end!
