End Of School: May 2015

The last week of Mothers Day Out was last week and it was crazy busy. I started out by making her a Mickey themed lunch.

I also made goodies for her classmates using the super cute free printable from Dixie Delights. I got the ice cream bubbles at Dollar Tree. I think they turned out so cute and Sally was so excited to give them to her friends.

Of course I have to show you the first and last day of school pictures side by side.

Just for fun, here is last years comparison. She was so little!

Unfortunately, Sally woke up the night before the last day with a 103 fever. I was soon sad she had to stay home on the last day. She was sad too. I had to run up there to deliver the ice cream bubbles and gifts for her teachers (monogrammed beach towels). Luckily she was feeling better later that day so I let her take a bubble bath in my bath tub and I made her a Shirley Temple with paper umbrella. She thought she was hot stuff :)

Michelle's Baby Shower

A few weekends ago I threw a baby shower for my sweet sister-in-law.

This was the invite I used.

{Found on Shutterfly here}

I decided to go with light pinks and creams for the shower....sorta shabby chic.

Although this pic was taken at night, you can still see the burlap and lace wreath I made for the front door.

Her are pics from the main food table. I served brunch that included a biscuit bar with various jams, preserves, honey and butter, mini quiche, mini cinnamon rolls, fruit salad and petit fours.

Here is a close up of the biscuit bar. I had someone make me a printable chalkboard sign on etsy. I used frozen biscuits and put the different toppings in mason jars. I also cooked up some country ham for the biscuits.

The drink station consisted of orange juice and water...super simple here ladies :) The burlap banner came from Target $1 spot.

For the favors, I used random glass jars that I had been collecting and potted a succulent in each one. I shopped around for succulents and Super Wal-Mart had the best price $10 for 6 of them in a multipack. I used a free printable flag from Pinterest and hot glued them to wooden sticks. The burlap and lace ribbon came from Hobby Lobby.

I also had a little station where people could use sharpies to write sweet or funny messages on newborn sized diapers.

Me and my precious sister in law :)

You can't see very well, but I made a garland for the mantle of baby pics from when the mommy and daddy to be were little. It was a fun little touch.

Overall, it was a simple and beautiful shower. I think the mommy to be loved it..and thats all that matters :)

Friday Favorites {on a thursday}

I hope everyone has an amazing weekend. We have 4 days of cookouts and family/friend time :)

Here are some things I am loving this week:

{one}
I bought this super cute necklace on eBay. Tassels are all the rage right now and the price was right!

{two}
This picture just makes me laugh :)

{three}

I have been wanting to read this book for a while, so when I saw it at my local library, I grabbed it up and read it in just a few days. It was really good...lots of good gossip about the Bachelor!!

{four}
Pool days are just around the corner...so I had to pick up this cute bag at target. Didn't I tell you I loved tassels?!

{five}
Ok, who else watched The Bachelorette this week? What can I say? Its still one of my favorite shows. I think Britt is just beautiful but Im glad Kaitlyn was picked.

Summer To-Do List

Summer is almost here my friends. Sally's last day of Mothers Day Out is on Thursday so I am ready to begin planning all of our summer activities. Last year I tried to have our week planned with a fun activity/outing each day and then each week I also had a "Special Summer Activity", "Special Summer Craft" and "Special Summer Snack" each week. I feel like it really helped me come up with new and fresh ideas and we stayed busy all summer. Of course there will be lots of trips to the pool and zoo, outdoor concerts and lots of family and friend time!

This is the printable I used last year to keep a master list. I love it because you can edit it and add in your own stuff.

30a Beach Trip

Joe had five days where he was off last week so we packed up and headed to the beach! My godmother lives on 30a so we had a free place to stay.

Of course we had to stop here for lunch...tradition!

We go there in the late afternoon but knew we needed to at least let Sally look at the beach. Of course she got soaking wet (and I did too!).

The next day we were at the beach all day. The weather was PERFECT and the water was the prettiest I have ever seen it. There was hardly anyone at our beach.

Sally had so much fun playing in the sand and splashing in the water. Although she has already been to the beach 6 times, its fun to see her reaction each time. She is my little sea turtle...no fear of the water.

Joe had fun in the waves like usual and I even got a few moments to read my magazine.

I somehow forgot to apply sunscreen the first day and got totally fried...not good! For lunch we picked up peel and eat shrimp from our local market.

Each day was the same...wake up...go to the beach until late afternoon, come back and take showers and eat lunch and then nap. After nap we would wake up and get ready for dinner. We ate dinner out every night and tried to hit up a lot of our favorite spots.

We spent our days taking walks to the little lake that feeds into the ocean, catching crabs, watching dolphins in the water and making friends with the families next to us. It was so peaceful :)

We tried a new place for dinner one night..The Surf Hut. The location was fabulous and the food was good. Try it!

We took my godmother out with us and I loved our time together.

One night we even went and got ice cream. Sally kept asking us...wonder where she gets her sweet tooth from?

One day we tried stand up paddle boarding. It looks like it would be so easy...and maybe it would be on a lake, but in an ocean with waves going under the board it was hard. I sat on my knees and paddled out (that part was easy) but it was hard to stand up with the waves. I was especially scared to fall off since sharks had been spotted earlier in the day. It was rush though ;) I would love to try it again when the water is a little more calm. It was a great workout!

All in all, it was a fabulous and stress free trip...and we will be back soon!
