How Cute Is This Cottage?!

I LOVE this house....so cute and totally our style.
It looks like something out of a storybook.
I can only imagine the character that is inside the house.

What'll Ya Have?

For those of you that do not know, my brother is getting married in December in Atlanta, GA. He and Michelle decided that wanted, The Varsity, an Atlanta institution to cater the rehearsal dinner (I am planning it of course). Here is a sneak peek of the invites. Let me know what you think. More details to follow...so exciting, another event to plan!

Flashback Friday....Martin Style!

Haha...this picture of me and Kristy is priceless. This was ZTA Lip Sync circa 2001. The theme was "TV Shows From Your Childhood". She was Betty Rubble from The Flintstones and I was Dina from Salute Your Shorts and also one of the girls from Kids Incorporated. I am pretty sure we won....wish I had a video of it to post! College was the best!

Honey Do....

How cute is my hub-hub?! I love him more everyday. When he asked me what I wanted for my birthday (as if dragging him around Disney World for 15 hours wasn't enough), I told him I would love for him to finish some projects around the house.

Here is the "Honey-Do" list that I have so far :
-paint the accent wall behind our bed blue
-paint the hallway
-repaint the kitchen cabinets and replace the hardware with new pulls/knobs
-install new kitchen lights

Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

This email was written By Regina Brett, 90 years old, of The Plain Dealer, Cleveland, Ohio. "To celebrate growing older, I once wrote the 45 lessons life taught me. It is the most-requested column I've ever written. My odometer rolled over to 90 in August, so here is the column once more:"

1. Life isn't fair, but it's still good.

2. When in doubt, just take the next small step.

3. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone.
4. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends and parents will. Stay in touch.

5. Pay off your credit cards every month.

6. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree.
7. Cry with someone. It's more healing than crying alone.
8. It's OK to get angry with God. He can take it.

9. Save for retirement starting with your first paycheck.

10. When it comes to chocolate, resistance is futile.
11. Make peace with your past so it won't screw up the present.

12. It's OK to let your children see you cry.

13. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.

14. If a relationship has to be a secret, you shouldn't be in it.

15. Everything can change in the blink of an eye. But don't worry; God never blinks.

16. Take a deep breath. It calms the mind.

17. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
18. Whatever doesn't kill you really does make you stronger.

19. It's never too late to have a happy childhood. But the second one is up to you and no one else.
20. When it comes to going after what you love in life, don't take no for an answer.

21. Burn the candles, use the nice sheets, wear the fancy lingerie. Don't save it for a special occasion. Today is special.

22. Over prepare, then go with the flow.
23. Be eccentric now. Don't wait for old age to wear purple.

24. No one is in charge of your happiness but you.

25. Frame every so-called disaster with these words ''In five years, will this matter?".
26. Always choose life.
27. Forgive everyone everything.

28. What other people think of you is none of your business.

29. Time heals almost everything. Give time, time.

30. However good or bad a situation is, it will change.
31. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.

32. Believe in miracles.

33. God loves you because of who God is, not because of anything you did or didn't do.
34. Don't audit life. Show up and make the most of it now.

35. Growing old beats the alternative -- dying young.

36. Your children get only one childhood.

37. All that truly matters in the end is that you loved.

38. Get outside every day. Miracles are waiting everywhere.

39. If we all threw our problems in a pile and saw everyone else's, we'd grab ours back.

40. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need.

41. The best is yet to come.
42. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.

43. Yield.
44. Life isn't tied with a bow, but it's still a gift.

45. Friends are the family that we choose for ourselves.

My new favorite snack!!

Yum-o!! These are so yummy.
I buy mine at Costco.
Joe and I like to snack on these along with hummus and carrots.
Try them...trust me :)

Love at First SIGHT!

Oh my....how cute is this stand??!! I NEED it!! I love anything galvanized and this would really work well in my house. I love the Halloween idea that they are using it for. I asked for this for my birthday. Fingers crossed.....

Things I Am Lusting For...

Can you tell that I am on a decorating kick?! I love all of these wall signs. I think I might try to make a few of my own using these for "inspiration". Shouldn't be too hard....

Midnight Madness!

This past Saturday night, Joe and I met our good friends Jason and Beth to ride in the 10th Annual Midnight Classic Bike Tour & Lunar Festival. We started at the Main Library on Poplar and rode all over Midtown and East Memphis.....17 miles to be exact! It was fun and hard but I finished in under 2 hours :) When we got back, they served some delicious Gibson's doughnuts....yummy! I know, doughnuts are bad for you....well we thought we deserved it after riding 17 miles! We did not get home until about 3 a.m. It was a lot of fun and we will for sure do it next year.

Payless......Who Me??

Look at my good finds today!! I went into Payless and came out with three pairs of shoes for all under $45.00!! I got some really cute silver driving moc's. They look just like the ones at
J. Crew that I have been eyeing for sometime. I also got some adorable coral colored moc's and some cute brushed gold flats. These will all be perfect for work.

$1 Store Adventures......Bling it Up!

I was so excited today when I went to the Dollar Tree. I was actually going in to look for school stuff but imagine my surprise when I stumbled upon this new Halloween stuff. I already had plans to do a glittery tabletop for Halloween and these blinged out skulls will be prefect. I also picked up some super cool plates and crows.....pictures coming in October.

Fried Chicken and Baseball....It Doesn't Get Anymore American Than That!

Here's our best attempt at a self-portrait!
Joe and Ryan watched the game...Abby and I talked.
Abby is one of my oldest friends and for the last year, she and her hubby, Ryan, have been living in South Korea. They have both been teaching over there and were home for the summer. Joe and I thought it was only appropriate to introduce them to Gus's...the best chicken...EVER!
It will make you slap yo' mama!
After dinner we all went to the Memphis Redbirds game. We wanted them to have a slice of Memphis to take back with them to Korea. We miss you guys already. Hopefully we can come and visit soon! If you want to check out their Korean adventures, here is the link to their blog:
